Russian School of Mathematics opened an Upper East Side location, moved its Nassau County space to Plainview, and will soon move from Bensonhurst to Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn. The after-school mathematics program opened an Upper East Side location in September due to a strong demand for its programs. In July it moved its Nassau County location from Port Washington to Plainview, where it is now located inside the Mid-Island Y JCC. Russian School of Mathematics is also planning to move within Brooklyn, from 2115 Benson Ave. in Bensonhurst to 2583 Ocean Ave. in Sheepshead Bay, slated for November.
Russian School of Mathematics offers an array of after-school programs to help children in kindergarten through 12th grades with math. It offers homework help, test prep, and more, and aims to help children of all levels build a solid math foundation and develop their critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. Its programs are also designed to widen students’ opportunities in all fields by fostering enhanced logic and critical thinking skills, math-specific abilities, and a deep appreciation for the subject.
“Math develops the logical thinking. It’s required everywhere for whatever you do,” says Victoria Gartstein, director of the Brooklyn and Long Island RSM branches. “It’s a base for other sciences.”
Russian School of Mathematics programs include homework help, an early introduction to algebra and geometry for elementary school students, test preparation for high school students, and summer math enrichment. The school’s mission is to use a well-structured teaching strategy and math school curriculum to help students build a solid math foundation. Registration is open throughout the year for all programs.
