GILT.com and the Children’s Health Fund (CHF) have teamed up yet again for their semi-annual Stroll in Style event. A portion of the proceeds from each purchase made on GILT.com, from September 22-26, will be donated to CHF and help children in need get the healthcare they deserve.
Co-founded by singer/songwriter Paul Simon and pediatrician/child advocate Irwin Redlener, MD, Children’s Health Fund has been providing health care to the children most in need of it through many different pediatric programs. Colby Kelly, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications for CHF, explained the importance of CHF and how great of an impact it has on the lives on underprivileged children throughout America. “Children’s Health Fund really is a life-changer for children who live in poverty and don’t have they access they need to good medical care… One boy treated in our program had missed around 30 school days due to asthma before he came to our clinic, but now that he is getting regular health care he didn’t miss any school at all last year,” he says in a press release.
The mission of CHF has touched the hearts of many, including actress (and former NYF cover mom) Julianne Moore, who is also an advocate and supporter of this organization and has brought it incredible visibility through major entertainment publications including People Magazine and The Wall Street Journal. Although with the help of donations and the semi-annual Stroll in Style event, where a portion of the proceeds from each purchase made on guilt.com goes to CHF, there is still a lot more that needs to be done in order to provide these underprivileged children with the healthcare that they need.
As transportation is a major issue that blocks children from getting the care they need, especially if a parent cannot take off work or if they do not have the means to travel to a clinic, CHF has taken an innovative approach to resolving this issue. Kelly explained in a press release: “That is why Children’s Health Fund with it’s fleet of mobile medical clinics- each one a complete doctor’s office on wheels- brings the health care professionals to the kids at homeless shelters, schools, Head Start programs and community centers.”
Every donation made to support this cause and part of every purchase made on guilt.com during the Stroll in Style event, goes toward making an incredible difference in the lives of those who have so little. For the next few days, until September 26, you can continue to shop the best-of-baby essentials event, and know that while doing so your purchase is also giving back to the children who need it the most. However, at the end of the Stroll in Style event, you can still provide aid to this cause, which is in desperate need of our help, through personal donations or by creating your own personal fundraising page.
