Attention, shoe/shopaholics! Here’s a purchase you can feel good about: TOMS shoes and FEED Projects have teamed up to create these limited edition shoes, The FEED 12 TOMS Classics. Splurge on a pair of these burlap-wrapped babies, and you’ll be sending 12 school meals and one pair of new shoes to a child in need.
After witnessing the effects of hunger firsthand when traveling as a WFP Honorary Spokesperson, Lauren Bush Lauren co-founded FEED Projects in 2007 with the mission of creating good products that help FEED the world. Every product sold has a measurable donation attached to it and, thus far, FEED has been able to provide more than 60 million meals globally through the UN World Food Programme. Additionally, FEED has supported nutrition programs around the world and in the US through organizations such as UNICEF and DonorsChoose.org. In 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie befriended children in a village in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. Think of these earth-hued kicks as the birthchild of two globetrotting do-gooders. They’ll be available April 1 in sizes for women ($58) and toddlers ($34) at toms.com.
