Years ago, Anne Lamott wrote a now classic memoir about
being a new mom called Operating Instructions: A Journal of My Son’s First Year.
Suffice to say, it’s brilliant and funny and we highly recommend it. Now Lamott
has published a memoir about being a new grandmom called Some Assembly
Required: A Journal of My Son’s First Son. We haven’t read it yet, but
if this interview with Kelly Corrigan (another great writer) is any
indication Lamont is at the top of her game–witty, wise and just a wonderful
person to go on a journey with. —
The video is essential watching if only to listen to her describe the boundaries of being
a grandmother and mother-in-law and the sage wisdom of the acronym W.A.I.T. (i.e. Why Am I Talking).
Enjoy.
