Weekend Planner: February 22-24

Yes, the weekend is here again already, with lots of exciting shows and festivals all over the city! We’re looking forward to the Scooby-Doo musical, AMNH’s Black History Month celebration, a ballet choreographed by a “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” star, and much more family fun. What are you waiting for?

 

STARTING FRIDAY

Calling all gumshoes: Scooby-Doo comes to life in an NYC-themed phantom mystery musical at the Beacon Theatre. Meet the gang here! (Friday-Sunday)

Learn about garden animals and crop
harvesting with Grug, a loveable hay stack puppet, who grows his own food at the New Victory Theater this weekend. We give it agreen thumbs up. (Friday-Sunday)

It’s the last week of City Bakery’s Hot Chocolate Fest! Get the scoop on the special daily flavors–think banana peel and “happy” hot chocolate–right here. (Friday-Sunday)

At The Pop-Up’s New York Public Library performance, music, puppets, and other props come together in a very different kind of concert. Neat! (Friday)

 

STARTING SATURDAY

Celebrate Black History Month at the American Museum of Natural History with hip hop collaborations, slam poetry legends, and other energetic speakers and performance.Get cultured! (Saturday)

Need a new book? Head over to the Antiquarian Book Fair in Greenwich Village, where thousands of antique and rare tomes for all ages await. Happy shopping! (Saturday & Sunday)

Ballet gets an exciting and kid-friendly twist at New York Theatre Ballet’s latest performance, choreographed by Chase Brock of the Spider-Man musical. What a thrill.(Saturday & Sunday)
