I’m two! Can you believe it? I keep telling everyone who asks. (And if they don’t ask, I let them know.) I thought I learned a lot during my first year, but year two kicked it. I walk and talk, eat amazing foods, dress in fancy clothes and shoes, and am a tiny dictator to the big people around me. Two is terrific!
Mommy kept telling me about birthdays when we would celebrate with friends. We would shop for a gift, get dressed up, and go to a party. I would say, “Happy Birthday!” and smile. It was all fun and games until I got to say, “Happy Birthday” to myself, which was a total game changer. I wish it was my birthday every day–but then I guess it would not be as special.
To kick off my birthday, we celebrated with my family. My favorite relatives from around the country started arriving one by one at my apartment. I am so loved! They all said, “Happy Birthday,” read me sweet cards, and gave me presents. Then I said I wanted to eat at one of my favorite places, Go Burger, and everyone listened! Once there, we got to eat in the special, back room. I got the royal treatment with a birthday shake and everyone fighting for the chance to sit next to me. Mommy even let me sit in a big girl chair, dance around, and play after I ate. They also had golf and basketball on TV–two of my favorite sports. And it was still two days before my real birthday!
The day before my birthday, Mommy and Daddy threw a little party for me with some of my closest friends. Can you believe I got to party twice before my real birthday even rolled around?! I got dolled up in a birthday princess dress–complete with a matching bow–and made me way to 74 St. MAGIC. The space was overflowing with tons of balloons and Sesame Street signs. Wow! I couldn’t have decorated better myself.
Soon after making my entrance at the Elle Belle birthday ball, almost all of my fav VIPs had arrived and were playing on trampolines and in ball pits and jumpy houses. I was so happy I couldn’t contain myself–my face hurt from smiling so much! I ran from one thing to the next, calling to my friends to follow me all while doing my own birthday dance. It was a two-year-old’s dream come true. The icing on the cake was that my friends had to sit still and watch me as I flew above them on a special swing. I went so high and they kept asking if I wanted to go higher. (Of course I did! Don’t they know I am fearless?) I got to fly and be the Wonder Woman that I am. I just hope no one saw my diaper cover!
Then, we went upstairs to eat. I found giant, silver, sparkly balloons spelling my name, my favorite foods, fancy decorations, and Sesame Street character cupcakes bigger than my head. It was off the charts! Mommy served the best-ever sparkling juice–Kristian Regale–which is like Dom for kids. My fav is the natural pomegranate, which comes in a mock champagne bottle. Cheers! I chowed down on mac n’ cheese, goldfish, and blueberries…lots of blueberries.
Soon after, everyone started singing “Happy Birthday” to me and the lights went out and a custom Ernie cupcake with a big candle shaped like the number two landed in front of me. It was the moment I had been waiting for. I’d practiced so hard for the big candle blowout by blowing bubbles and playing my flute. And I nailed it! Mommy and Daddy didn’t even have to help! I immediately ate off Ernie’s frosting nose and next worked on the rest of his face and may have had a little bit of cake, too. I soon looked orange myself! I had a quick cleanup and then changed gears for music and dancing.
When it was time to leave, everyone was sent home with a JustForMeMusic Elmo Sings to Me CD. It was an album Elmo made just for me and my friends with our favorite songs that had our very own names in them! My personal favorite is Elmo and Elle’s World. It was sad to say goodbye to all my besties, but I knew I would see them again soon. And they gave me two giant bunches of balloons and two giant bags of presents to bring home. I almost floated away, so it was a good thing the presents were heavy!
Back at home, I got to read thoughtful cards, open pretty bags and boxes, and enjoy some very special surprises. I am a lucky girl. I didn’t want the celebration to end. I ran around the house saying, “I’m two!” But Mommy reminded me that my real birthday was tomorrow and then I would really be two so I had better rest up for another big day. So we read birthday books, sang birthday songs, and eventually got me tucked in bed.
The next day, I woke up and it was my real birthday. More celebrations and partying anyone? I got all dressed in my birthday girl dress and had another day of excitement and adventure. Two is going to be an incredible year. Happy birthday two me!
