The wildly popular Uber car service understands that raising kids in the city is no walk in the park (or even a run-of-the-mill ride in the car) — it’s more like a schlepp.
To make things a little easier for NYC parents, Uber has created a unique service called uberFAMILY. Parents with kids in tow will now have the on-demand option of a car seat. (Finally!) With just the push of a button, parent can now make sure their kids are safely buckled up.
And for this weekend only (Happy Mother’s Day!), Care.com has partnered with uBER to allow parents to use this unique option surcharge free. “Transporting children safely is extremely important to us,” says Sheila Lirio Marcelo, Founder and CEO of Care.com. “More than half of our members seeking childcare include some kind of transportation requirement when they are looking for caregivers. In teaming up with Uber, we’re raising awareness of the importance of child safety in car rides and helping provide an easier way for families to get around New York.”
For this special weekend offer, Care.com will cover the $10 surcharge per ride and the first 1,000 New York City families to take advantage of uberFAMILY will also receive care packages in each car, including a 20 percent discount to try out Care.com to find quality full-time and part-time babysitters, nannies, and other caregivers for their family.
