Fly a kite in Astoria Park. On a clear day, this is the spot to be, with an open field and expansive views of the East River.
Eat Greek at an Astoria restaurant. Even picky eaters will usually dive into a plate of creamy hummus. Let them do that while you feast on delicious dishes of the most authentic Greek food this side of the Aegean.
Check out the Long Island City Rooftop Farm. This rooftop organic farm has Family Farm Day programs once a month and regular visiting hours to check out their curious, cool work.
Romp through Socrates Sculpture Park. An awesome Long Island City greenspace with activities for kids, East River views, outdoor sculptures, and more.

Things to do with kids in Brooklyn
Swim at the Prospect Park YMCA’s new aquatic center. With two pools and tons of classes for all ages, this is the perfect place for watery fun year round.
Climb high at Brooklyn Boulders. Check out this giant rock-climbing center, which has lots of climbing options for kids and their grown-ups.
See sea animals at the New York Aquarium. Check out Coney Island’s aquarium, complete with sea turtles, sharks, seals, and more.
Ride over to the New York Transit Museum.
Set in Downtown Brooklyn, this museum is packed with information and exhibits about everything subway, train, trolley, and bus.
Talk to the animals at the Prospect Park Children’s Zoo. An interactive, educational zoo dedicated to protecting wildlife (and exhibiting cute, strange, interesting, furry creatures).
