Medieval Times at Victorian Gardens
Hear ye, hear ye! Travel back to a time when knights protected kingdoms and chivalry prevailed. This Friday, Medieval Times will take over Central Park’s Victorian Gardens Amusement Park. All ages can watch the jester perform magic, knights sword fight, and court musicians play medieval music. There will also be face painting, contests, giveaways, and much more. (Friday) -
Come Out & Play Family Day on Governors Island
The Come Out & Play Festival, which is dedicated to the playing of street games, is hosting a free Family Day on Governors Island. All games revolve around this year’s theme: time travel. Play games from the past, present, and future during this afternoon of outdoor family fun and competition! Pre-schoolers can also get in on the action with a new area designed specifically for them by the TV show “Poppy Cat.” Games will run multiple times throughout the day. (Saturday) -
City of Water Day on Governors Island and in Maxell's Place Park

Mr. Tim and the WeBop Family Band will introduce young jazz lovers to horns, drums, and other instruments found in jazz bands, and then play an improv jam session that won’t soon be forgotten! Beach Bound: Coney Island Nostalgia Ride
Go back in time (and to Coney Island) on a combination of vintage Independent Subway System cars and Brooklyn-Manhattan Transit Corporation (BMT) D-Type Triplex cars running together as one train! This fun ride is part of the New-York Transit Museum’s annual summer Nostalgia Rides. From seats to the vintage advertisements, you’ll experience transit as New Yorkers would have nearly a century ago! Advanced tickets are required. (Saturday) -
Stories and Songs of the American West at the Metropolitan Museum of Art
Travel back in time at The Met and listen to folk tales and tunes from the 1800s. Storyteller Tom Lee and musician Seth Ginsberg will be putting on a show in part of the museum’s exhibition, “Navigating the West: George Caleb Bingham and the River.” (Saturday) -
The Rubin Block Party at the Rubin Museum
Join The Rubin Museum this Sunday for its epic Block Party! The museum will celebrate its latest exhibit “Becoming Another: The Power of Masks” with an afternoon of free family-friendly activities, live performances and food. Children can get creative with arts and crafts such as mask-making and origami, snap a family pic in the photo booth, compete in the costume contest, and relax during an outdoor family yoga session. There will also be performances from Ajna Dance, Brooklyn Raga Massive, and others.Museum admission is free all day. This event will be held rain or shine. (Sunday) -
